At Zentic, we take pride in providing fast and reliable services to all of our customers. Our Fair Use Policy (FUP) helps us to safeguard this quality and to prevent abuse.
Think of our FUP as the rules at an ‘all you can eat’ restaurant: enjoyment is permitted, but abuse will not be tolerated.
Our systems monitor all activity on our platform in order to detect anomalies promptly. The limits of our FUP are set generously, so that almost no one experiences any issues with them. Only in less than 0,01% of cases do we observe abuse, whether intentional or unintentional. In such cases, we will work together to find a solution.
What is not permitted?
Although our policy is more generous than that of many other providers, the following activities are not permitted:
- Creating backups using your own tools or WordPress plugins (we already take care of this for you)
- Using your hosting account for purposes other than hosting a website
- Publicly sharing your hosting account
- Posting copyright-protected content
- Using your hosting account for file storage or file sharing
- Use for streaming purposes
- Use of inefficient or extremely resource-intensive code
- Hosting of casino or adult content
Example situations that fall outside the FUP
- Running your own crawler scripts
- Executing large WordPress import scripts
- Email alerts that are sent every minute
- Sending mass emails from a personal mailbox
- Heavy product feeds or bulk imports
No need to worry
We will never terminate or shut down your service without good reason.
If you fall outside the FUP, we will always contact you first. Only in serious cases, such as phishing or the distribution of spam, will we take immediate action. In most cases your website will simply remain online, although we may impose limited changes for security purposes.
Monitoring of usage
CPU usage
Every website uses CPU capacity. Structurally above 20%? Then we will contact you.
Possible causes
- Inefficient scripts
- High traffic
Solutions
- Upgrading to the latest PHP version
- Enabling caching
- Compressing images
- Considering a growth plan
Database usage
A database larger than 2GB or heavy database traffic may affect performance.
Possible causes
- Large tables
- Inefficient queries
Solutions
- Deleting old data
- Optimizing queries
RAM usage
High RAM usage often goes hand in hand with high CPU consumption. Follow the solutions listed under CPU usage.
NVMe storage
Our hosting uses fast NVMe storage. Use this solely for your website.
Backups do not need to be stored manually — we take care of this.
Malware
We check for malware on a daily basis. If we find anything suspicious, we will contact you immediately and assist you in resolving it.
Bandwidth
Although bandwidth is unlimited, we keep an eye on usage. Irregularities are detected quickly.
Monitoring of email usage
Our email services are powerful, but in the event of excessive use we will get in touch.
Examples of usage that exceeds the limits
- Mailboxes larger than 5 GB
- More than 125 emails per hour
- A high percentage of bounces
Tips for responsible email use
- Send large mailings via tools such as Mailchimp
- Do not use email forwarders to external domains
- Use Captcha on forms to prevent spam
- Send large files via, for example, WeTransfer
- For larger requirements, use tools such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
